Message from the Chair

Hi All,

Thanks for your offers of support. The response has been far better than I could have hoped for. At the moment as far as I am aware, villagers are already pulling together brilliantly to look after each other.

The Ffolkes, while closed as a pub, is now planning to open as a temporary shop offering essential items at cost price, which can be ordered and paid for over the phone, so just need collecting.

Several people have suggested setting up a Whatsapp group so that if anyone needs anything urgently they can contact us and we can contact each other should we need help.

I am well aware that some of the most vulnerable are the least likely to have smartphones or computers, but I am equally aware that at the moment they only have my contact details. Also, we never know when we may be affected. This way would allow anyone of the group to respond to calls for help.

I have never used Whatsapp before, but I have set up a group called Hillington Support Group. The link is below if you wish to join.

Follow this link to join my WhatsApp group: https://chat.whatsapp.com/BFLwTcqaIyEHITtskuYuLf

Thanks again for your offer of help.

Graham Rogerson.

Hillington and Flitcham Good Companions

Hillington and Flitcham Good Companions meet at 2.00 pm on the last Wednesday of the month at Flitcham Community Centre.    The group welcomes new members our criteria being that they live or have lived in one of the two villages and that they are 60+ although their partners can come along under that age if they should so wish.   Our annual fee is £1 and we pay 30p for a cup of tea and biscuit.
We have outings and lunches throughout the year and speakers at our meetings.   If you enjoy a gossip and meeting new friends you will be very welcome.  We celebrate our 60th Anniversary this year so we must be doing something right!
